Digital Marketing & Community Engagement
WildFire Restoration Fundraiser
In June 2021, the Pack Creek fire spread nearly 9,000 acres across the Manti-La Sal National Forest outside of Moab, Utah due to an abandoned campfire.
Out of a desire to help, I identified an opportunity to invite tourists as well as local community members to support future restoration projects in the La Sals. I pitched the idea of an online fundraiser to local artist Abby Leighton and collaborated with her on developing the product we listed to Bonfire, an online custom apparel drop shipping platform built for fundraising, that we ran the 2-week crowdfunding campaign through.
Creating/Managing Crowdfunding Campaign
Promotions & Live interviews
Because of successful organic social media promotions, the campaign caught the attention of local news outlets, and I took interviews with digital newspapers like Moab Sun News and a live radio broadcast with Moab’s KZMU station to underline the importance of crowdfunding and future restoration projects in the La Sal Mountains.
Campaign success
By all accounts, the digital campaign behind the fundraiser was a complete success, raising over $6,000 for future restoration projects in a rural Utah community that thrives on outdoor-based tourism.
In the spring of 2022, a restoration project was completed between the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance and the US Forest Service which utilized the funds from this project for Pack Creek repair.
